Working in schools is such a privilege…

One of our major aims when we started coaching was to get fencing into more state schools. Thanks to the support of Alad Parry, Lyn Broderick and Jonathan Anthony (all Carmarthen 5/60 officers) we have been able to introduce hundreds of students in five different schools to our sport – and we loved it!

.

“Thanks for yesterday had a very good response from the pupils, couldn’t stop going on about fencing! May have some keen starters from September...”

- Lyn Broderick, 5/60 Officer, July 2008

“It is satisfying to see boys go from an initial 5x60 session to representing their country. I just hope that many more pupils from both schools follow in their footsteps.”

“Just thirteen, Daniel Morgan, of Mynydd Cerrig, a pupil of Ysgol Gyfun Maes Yr Yrfa and has been attending the school’s 5x60 fencing club for a year.

Daniel, like a young Zorro, found a sport that he real enjoys so much he joined Draig Wern Fencing Club in Carmarthen where he has had the opportunity to develop new techniques.”
